2013 Beach Sweeps Report
Two-thousand thirteen was highlighted by the Waves of Action program which was Clean Ocean Action's response to Superstorm Sandy. A total of nearly 14,000 volunteers responded to the call for help at over 200 cleanups across 70 coastal communities. These cleanups included the Beach Sweeps events and the impact from Sandy was very evident in the data. Over 13,700 pieces of lumber were collected; twice over that in 2012 and the highest number ever recorded.
