C.O.A.S.T. Rides Into August

     The C.O.A.S.T. Campaign was successfully kicked-off on June 30 with a press conference at the pavilion in Avon-By-The-Sea.  COA extends special thanks to the Borough of Avon for being a great host and to Rob Fishman of the fabulous Avon Pavillon Restaurant for donating beverages and a beautiful fruit platter.  After just three C.O.A.S.T. weekends, volunteers educated hundreds of citizens about current ocean pollution issues at 12 different locations and raised $1,236.52.  In addition, famed musician Jon Bon Jovi and his wife Dorothea signed the petition to support the Clean Ocean Zone at one of the C.O.A.S.T. sites!  Congratulations to volunteer Kathleen Gasienica for obtaining their signatures!

     Volunteers are still needed for the closing weekend of C.O.A.S.T., which is the Clearwater Festival.  The festival, organized by the Monmouth County Friends of Clearwater (MCFC) will be held on August 20 & 21 at Sunset Park in Asbury Park.  The Clearwater Festival is a fun and exciting event that celebrates the environment, music, and friends.  All ages are welcome.  To volunteer for COA’s table and display or to lend a hand to MCFC on the days of the event, please contact Lisa.
